USPS sets the record straight – but only internally

The Postal Service has launched USPS sets the record straight (accessible from USPS computers) — an internal website providing postal responses to the misperceptions, misunderstandings or mistakes that sometimes occur.

The website — which includes postings of stories that recently appeared in Link — is an employee resource, with postings from Public Relations, Internal Communications and from the field. There’s information on the Postal Service’s responses to hot-button issues such as the USPS partnership with Staples, load leveling, plant consolidations and service.

It’s all part of the Postal Service’s continuing effort to correct inaccurate information.

As one of the most trusted U.S. government agencies, USPS is working to maintain trust by continuing to set the record straight.

Am I the only one who finds it puzzling that an effort to “set the record straight” – is kept as an internal locked down resource?  Maybe setting the record straight for everybody would be beneficial?

    We agree wholeheartedly that “set the record straight” would be beneficial both internally and externally. The site is a collection of articles, letters to the editor and other externally published items in a single place.

    Work is already underway — and was from the start — to add these items to our external about/ site. The internal site was our “soft launch,” as we gathered sufficient material to make it worthwhile posting externally too.
