Observation – My Choice and Business Partnership?

with one comment

I would like to share an observation  –

Earlier today, I received a notice from UPS that I had a package coming to me.  Since I am enrolled in UPS My Choice, the email had a special offer for me.  If I wanted to pony up $3.50, they would “upgrade” my package.  What came with the upgrade, according to the promotion?

“This package is not eligible for UPS My Choice features including an estimated delivery time since final delivery is being provided by the U.S. Postal Service.

Upgraded packages will be delivered by your UPS driver and typically arrive one day earlier.”

So, upgraded = not handled by the unable to track and slower USPS, delivered by the far more preferable UPS driver?

USPS and UPS are business partners, right?

Saddest part?  I paid the $3.50.  It was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

  1. Airlines get you to pay more money to actually deliver you and your belongings to the destination after you’ve bought your ticket. It sounds like UPS has found a way to do the same thing–additional money for a better experience for a shipment you thought you’d already paid for.
