USPS: Informed Delivery Begins Expansion – Postal Employee Network

without comments

The Postal Service is expanding Informed Delivery, an optional, free feature that provides eligible residential consumers with a digital preview of their incoming mail.

Through Informed Delivery, users receive images of the outside of their household’s letter-sized mailpieces that will arrive in their physical mailboxes soon. Users can receive these images via email or by accessing their online dashboard at informeddelivery.usps.com.

USPS has been testing Informed Delivery in select areas. By late April, the feature is slated to be available nationwide.

Comment:  I’ll keep you posted as to when it becomes available in my area, which is not a major metropolitan area….

Coalition Letter Opposing the Postal Service Reform Act (H.R. 756) – Postal Employee Network

without comments

While reforms are needed, the Postal Service Reform Act ignores basic needed reforms to USPS, and instead increases rates, shifts USPS’s financial burden onto the American public, and allows for the diversion of resources away from the core mission of mail delivery.

NALC and APWU Statements Regarding Postal Reform Bill – Postal Employee Network

without comments

On Jan. 31, House Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) reintroduced the Postal Service Reform Act of 2017 (H.R. 756), and Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA), a member of the OGR Committee, reintroduced the Postal Service Financial Improvement Act (H.R. 760). The OGR Committee has jurisdiction over the U.S. Postal Service.

NALC President Fredric Rolando has been invited to testify during a Feb. 7 OGR Committee hearing on both bills. Last May, Rolando testified before the committee about the need for comprehensive postal reform legislation.

The two new bills are similar to postal measures that were introduced in the House of Representatives in the 114th Congress. Following a mark-up session shortly after last May’s hearing, both of those bills were overwhelmingly approved by the committee.
