USPS EDDM/Direct Mail Hub Tunnel Vision 2012

without comments

The cover of the last Postal Bulletin announces yet another “win a trip” promotions so USPS sales will be motivated to sell the Every Door Direct Mail and Direct Mail Hub programs.

“The objective is to conduct a minimum of five Business Connect activities about EDDM/Direct Mail Hub through customer meetings or events.”

via Cover Story, Postal Bulletin 22327

The USPS continues to push these two low level programs as their entire sales force focus, rather than meeting with customers, finding out what their needs are, and going above and beyond to satisfy those needs.  The sales force should be selling direct mail options as appropriate to each individual mail customer., and the USPS should be partnering with the direct mail industry that already does just that – consult, recommend, and deliver.
