Darrell Issa wants the USPS to die quickly

Darrell Issa wants the USPS to die quickly – postalnews blog.

It’s one thing to post misinformation that you sincerely, albiet mistakenly, think is truth – but to purposefully post misleading and patently false information – that you know is a lie – is criminal as far as I’m concerned.

Issa’s Twitter avatar is that of a policeman, perhaps it should really be Pinocchio.

SENATOR JOHN McCAIN INTRODUCES POSTAL REFORM ACT | Postal Employee Network

with one comment

“We can no longer support temporary fixes to the Postal Service. If we continue to act in this irresponsible way, the American taxpayer will be the one that ultimately suffers in the form of higher postage prices and taxpayer bailouts. We must make hard choices now so future generations of Americans will have a viable Postal Service.”

SENATOR JOHN McCAIN INTRODUCES POSTAL REFORM ACT | Postal Employee Network.

One part I agree with.

Business Customer Gateway Scheduled Maintenance Outage

without comments

These notices have been coming out so frequently I haven’t been posting them all. System disruptions are starting to be an accepted way of life.

Being satisfied with less seems to be a common theme lately.

From the USPS Help Desk

To address critical network issues recently affecting the Business Customer Gateway and all external applications accessed through the Gateway, an emergency scheduled maintenance outage will occur on Sunday, September 25, 2011. The network changes will occur within the normal maintenance window 4am – 8am CT. It is estimated the access through the Gateway will be unavailable between 6am – 8am CT. During the outage, all applications accessed through the Gateway including PostalOne! and FAST will be unavailable.

REMINDER:

There is a scheduled Business Customer Gateway outage for Sunday, October 2, 2011. The outage will occur during the normal maintenance window from 4am – 8am CT. During the outage, all applications accessed through the Gateway including PostalOne! and FAST will be unavailable.

We will send out notifications when the Gateway is up and functional after each outage.

We apologize for the impact and inconvenience this may have on your business operations.

Dead Tree Edition: Bad Customer Service Is Built into the Design of U.S. Post Offices, Report Says

without comments

“…Managers of a typical post office “primarily focus on delivery performance and cost control over providing retail service or promoting revenue generation. In fact, their performance evaluations often guide them to focus on meeting delivery cost and service goals to the exclusion of retail service or revenue generation goals… “

Dead Tree Edition: Bad Customer Service Is Built into the Design of U.S. Post Offices, Report Says.

Be sure to read this.  Common sense.  There is so much that could be accomplished at the Postal Service with a broad application of common sense, and customer service.
