Faxed 8125s

without comments

There has been an important clarification made regarding drop shipping procedures.  The industry has been experiencing problems with drop ship mail being refused and/or reported via the EMIR error reporting system.  The situation occurs when there is a missing or illegible 8125 clearance document.  Facilities may have conflicting information, with one set of rules stating that no faxed copies will be accepted, with Publication 804 – Drop Shipment Procedures for Destination Entry, stating that:

driver must contact his/her dispatch office to fax a legible copy of the 8125 to the destination facility.”

Per USPS HQ, the overriding edict is the second, from Publication 804.  Mail should not be refused, and EMIRs should not be generated.  Reference here:

PostalOne Outage

without comments

At this point, PostalOne! has been down for at least three hours.  I began receiving reports around 8pm, it is now 11pm.  The Help Desk has been contacted.  No outage notifications have come through yet.  Hopefully things will be back online tomorrow, or tomorrow will be a very long day.

Update – the Help Desk responded that there is indeed a problem, it is logged and being worked on.  If I get any further word, will update here.
