New Mail.dat Client Needed for PostalOne!

with one comment

One glitch I have run across today with the new PostalOne! release is the fact that a new Mail.dat Client needs to be downloaded.  Aside from a single sentence in the still-not-finalized (even though the release was this past weekend) Release 26 notes, I have seen no notification.

The result when you don’t download the client is that your files just hang forever.  No warning message, no prompt, nothing to indicate that you need to download a new Client.  There was no indication in the DMM Advisory regarding this release that a new client would be required.  The requirement to download a new Client is supposed to at the very least be communicated via the DMM Advisory.  If it was, I missed it somehow.

This has come up at the PostalOne User Group meetings numerous times.  I will bring it to the group again.  It shouldn’t be such a problem.

The PostalOne! Help Desk confirms that they are getting a lot of inquiries about this.  It would sure improve the efficiency (and lower the costs incurred) of the Help Desk if this issue could be permanently resolved.  It always amazes me when a communication company has difficulty communicating.

PostalOne! Update

without comments

Pleasantly surprised this morning to find PostalOne! up and running – it may be my imagination but it actually seems a bit faster, too.  There is even a fix we had been waiting for, there and functional as promised.  We’ll wait a little bit before declaring this update a complete success, but indications so far, it is a vast improvement on some of the past update Mondays.
