PRC Seeks Input on Improving Postal Laws of the United States

Washington, DC – The Commission has begun work on Section 701 of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA) as required to issue its report to the President and Congress concerning the operation of amendments made by the PAEA and other recommendations for any legislation or other measures to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the postal laws of the United States.

Once the report is completed, the Commission will forward it to the Postal Service for comment. Both the report and the Postal Service’s comments will then be submitted by the Commission to the President and to Congress.

To better inform the Commission as it conducts its review, the Commission will hold a public forum at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Commission offices. Members of the public will be invited to discuss informally their views with the Commission.

“The American public has a vital interest in the future of the U.S. Postal Service and the continuation of universal mail service. The Commission welcomes public input on these important matters and the exchange of ideas for legislative reform and other changes that promote an affordable and effective Postal Service,” said Chairman Ruth Y. Goldway.

All members of the postal community and interested persons are also invited to send their comments by e-mail to pagr-prc@prc.gov, or by mail to the following address:
