Mailer IDs

without comments

We’ve had a great flow of traffic at our booth this week, and I’ve talked to a lot of people who attended some of the education sessions.  Some of the confusing things that have come up:

Mailer IDs – The USPS backed off on a process flow that required everyone to go to the Gateway in order to get a Mailer ID.  At RIBBS MID page:
http://ribbs.usps.gov/index.cfm?page=intellmailmailidapp

There is now an Exception process for Mailing Agents to be able to request a Mailer ID on behalf of their customer.  The process includes a paper document so you don’t have to do it via the Gateway.

Something I want to clarify for mailers here – and please contact me with any questions on this, or if you are getting contradictory guidance from the USPS – Mailers DO NOT have to have THEIR Mailer ID on the mailpieces.  In our case, we are a Confirm subscription service provider, and Mailers using OUR Mailer ID on the piece will NOT have to pay the $2500 Confirm delegate charge.  That charge WILL come into play if the mailer uses their own Mailer ID.
