USPS Growth Saturation Incentive Details

The USPS has provided the details on a previously-announced Saturation mail incentive program.

To qualify, you must have a two year history with Saturation Mail.  The deadline for applications is June 11, 2009.

DMM Advisory – Letter Sized Booklet Standards

Federal Register Notice

The effective date is September 8, 2009

Summary:

Definition of a Booklet – Booklets consist of bound sheets of pages.  This excludes spiral bindings, which do not qualify for automation.  Large booklets may be folded to lettersize if uniform thickness remains.

Physical characteristics – Max height 6″.  Max length between 9 and 10.5″ depending on the design
thickness (at the spine) Min .009″ Max .25″
Max weight 3 oz, with a recommendation of 9″ trim on 3oz booklets
See the DMM Exhibit 201.3.2 for stock weight requirements, as they vary
Bottom edge must be bound or folded, except oblong.
Oblong booklets must be prepared with spine as leading edge
TABS – no perforations3 1.5″ tabs required for most booklets
2″ paper tab recommendation for larger/heavier booklets

According to the notice, the USPS recieved upwards of 900 comments on the proposals.
