DMM Advisory – USPS.com Service Update

with one comment

From a DMM Advisory just posted, this service update regarding the shipping challenges this week. Hopefully the USPS can use thi experience to help to improve systems so service interruptions can be minimized moving forward.

Usps.com Update

Customers should begin to experience routine transactions on Click-N-Ship, with far fewer system interruptions, as the Postal Service continues to fine-tune corrections to the networks that drive usps.com. While some customers still may experience difficulties, the majority of transactions should process without incident. Customers who may not be able to complete a final transaction on Click-n-Ship should remember that no credit card will be billed unless a label is printed.

The other tools and services available at usps.com currently are running without incident, including free package pickup, ZIP Code Look Up, Post Office Locator and the Postal Store. Problems still may occur infrequently, and we ask customers for their continued patience and support as we continue to monitor the situation and test network systems.

We apologize again for the inconvenience this has caused our valued customers and business partners, we thank you for your patience, and we look forward to being able to provide the quality level of service you can expect from the U.S. Postal Service. Should any problems arise, customers still are able to use Endicia.com and Stamps.com for their postage needs and can refer questions to 1-800-ASK-USPS. Again, we thank you for your cooperation as we worked toward the solution.

National Mail Service Updates

without comments

The USPS is working to improve communications to Drop Ship mailers, with a Service Updates page:

http://www.usps.com/communications/news/serviceupdates.htm

Information on this site is provided for mailers with plant-verified drop shipments going to postal facilities that are either closed or have limits due to natural disasters or severe weather conditions.  In addition to the obvious (hurricanes, tornadoes), fires and flooding situations are also covered.  The site will provide mailers with optional destinating mail entry information.  Info is updated on a daily basis.

The more information available, the better-equipped mailers will be to adjust to real-world issues and conditions in a timely manner.  Any and all efforts to keep mailers informed should be applauded.
